Evergreen is a Christian, non-profit senior living organization serving older adults ages 55 and better. Located in a pleasant residential neighborhood in Oshkosh, Evergreen offers many options to meet unique needs.

We are home to over 350 residents, and also a destination for families, community members, volunteers, non-profit groups and other visitors.


This position is a 30 hours a week and the hours are Monday-Friday. The hours are typically 8:00am-4:00pm but can be flexible.

Primary responsibilities of the Accounts Receivable Specialist are:

  • Comply with the Medicare and Medical Assistance Program’s billing procedures and guidelines.
  • Assure resident refunds upon discharge have proper documentation and authorization (domiciliary letter, etc.).
  • Maintain records for accounts receivable related to Medicare, Medical assistance and Private Insurance billing.
  • Submit Medical Assistance billing within 5 business days of month end.
  • Upload, verify and post therapy charges by the 5th business day after month end.
  • Complete, review and submit Medicare and Managed Medicare claims by the 15th day after month end.
  • Ensure that no refunds of any kind are made without appropriate authorization (i.e. insurance requests supported by proof of overpayment).
  • Provide misc. report information to other departments, as requested, in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile A/R refund clearing account for all non-private pay payers.
  • Obtain, input, and/or verify all resident Masterfile information is accurate and current, as well as resident ancillary charges, level of care changes, recurring monthly charges, and changes to Evergreen’s charge structure.
  • Follow up monthly on all accounts over 90 days.
  • Post payments from all non-private pay entities.
  • Provide residents and/or families as requested with information necessary for them to complete billing of private insurance or for year and tax filings.
  • Prepare various accounts receivable audit work papers as requested (accounts receivable, audit, cost report, etc.).
  • Review accounts receivable/census/payer problems.
  • Verify and correct batches of scanned or Point-of-Sale charges.
  • Process Home Health claims to include submission, payments, and entry in the Home Health Earned Income Report spreadsheet.
  • Provide timely assistance with Provider Claim audits.


Minimum requirements:

  • A two-year degree in accounting or business preferred; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of insurance billing (Medicare & Medicaid billing)
